Chapter 2

Blockchain products

By now, you have a great bit of information about blockchain technol-

ogy and some of the successful use cases including cryptocurrencies like

Bitcoin and Ethereum. There are thousands of real-life use cases utilising

and appreciating blockchain technology to make them simpler, transparent

and secure. In this chapter, we will walk through some of the most adopted

blockchain technologies used by multiple organisations to solve complex

business use cases.

BLOCKCHAIN PRODUCTS IN THE MARKET

There has been an influx of blockchain products; however, there are only

a handful of products which are successfully adopted by organisations

and have been established for production use. Table 2.1 is a point-in-time

matrix (as of the time of writing) of the blockchain products along with

their technology stack.

BLOCKCHAIN PRODUCT COMPARISON

There has been a tremendous amount of activity within the blockchain

space, especially with regard to product and platform development.

However, there are only a handful of products that have been able to estab-

lish themselves within financial, supply chain, payments, digital identity

and many more industries. We will walk through those top products in this

section. We will also go through their features and the differentiation that

has allowed them to succeed in specific areas (Table 2.2).
